Palmyra’s Arch of Triumph Is Rising Up
An article about Palmyra’s Arch of Triumph arrived in my inbox while I sat on my big red couch minding my own business. I didn’t give it much thought even though intrigued. That’s because 2019 ushered in tax return preparations, new goals, and questions about life. Later, I surmised God wanted me to understand why this arch of Palmyra replica appears throughout the world.
What Is the Palmyra’s Arch of Triumph?
Also called the Arch of Baal, the Romans built it sometime between 200-300 A.D. Several religions used the idol’s name because Baal means lord. One example: Babylonians referred to Baal as Marduk.
In the Bible, Israel turned to the pagan god Baal and away from their one true God. Throughout the Old Testament, people made offerings, prophesied on behalf of the false god, and erected altars to it. Many burned incense, worshipped and served it religiously. They considered the god in charge of weather and fertility (for example, crops and animals). Baal rites included child sacrifices, prostitution, and blatant sexual immorality. Here’s a scripture about the Arch of Baal in the Bible.
Jeremiah 19:4-6 – For they have forsaken me and made this a place of foreign gods; they have burned incense in it to gods that neither they nor their ancestors nor the kings of Judah ever knew, and they have filled this place with the blood of the innocent. They have built the high places of Baal to burn their children in the fire as offerings to Baal—something I did not command or mention, nor did it enter my mind. So beware, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when people will no longer call this place Topheth or the Valley of Ben Hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter.
Stay Alert
Biblical kings and leaders worshipped the Baal deity —a heart idol. When worshippers entered a Baal temple, they passed under the arch on their way in and out.
Today’s smaller arches are replicas of the original arch in Syria destroyed in 2015. Companies in UK, Dubai, and China recreate the reproduction using 3D printers.
Many Christians see the arch as a spiritual gateway to invite people into its circle of influence. They also see the arch’s resurgence as symbolic of the antichrist’s imminent arrival in Jerusalem to create a one-world government.

Palmyra’s Arch of Triumph: Heads Up for Christians
If an arch comes to your city, don’t go near it or walk underneath it. Fascination with its history and its inherent evil spirit draws people into its presence. This is one more attempt by satan to lure gullible Christians and others into his deadly path. Speculators estimate that arches will appear in thousands of cities.
The Arch of Baal and its associated evil spirit symbolize current-day happenings.
- Sexual immorality: In Biblical times, whole communities held sexual orgies at Baal temples to appease the god. People came to watch. Today, sex is publicly displayed throughout the world via porn sites. People watch images in the comfort of their homes on TV and the internet. Equally alarming, in the US according to the National Human Trafficking hotline, human sex trafficking occurs in all 50 states.
- Child Sacrifice: Nearly 60 million babies have been killed in the US since Roe vs Wade. The blood of innocents flows non-stop because these slaughters happen every day.
- Weather: The idea of global warming/climate change is meant to create fear so people obsess about the future. For Christians, the Bible is clear about God’s plan for the earth and what will transpire.
Don’t Be Deceived
In the Bible, when King Ahab of Israel married Jezebel, she set up Baal worship centers. When John wrote the Book of Revelation, he warned the Church of Thyatira about the spirit of Jezebel.
Revelation 2:20 – But I have this against you, that you tolerate the woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, and she teaches and leads My bond-servants astray so that they commit acts of immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols.
Current-day Christians battle this spirit day in and day out. satan hates God and Christians. The Arch of Baal is one example of how he works through people so they go astray.
Palmyra’s Arch of Triumph: Steps You Can Take
- Make others aware that people who erect this arch in cities don’t have well-meaning intentions. They propose that the arch represents peace, solidarity, and a common cultural heritage. Don’t believe it. The spirit of Baal poses as holy when its objective is to defy God, Creator of heaven and earth.
- Live an uncompromised life by the Spirit of God. Keep proclaiming the Word of God in your heart and to all you meet.
- Don’t compromise your position as a Christian. That means you don’t watch porn, have sex with strangers, or exchange truth for lies and faith for fear.
- Memorize this scripture. Isaiah 5:20 – 21 – Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight.
- Don’t accept behavior that others call customary when God calls it an abomination. Keep your spirit sharp so you know the difference and don’t comply with what you know is wrong.
- We live in times written about in 2 Timothy 3:1-5 – But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.
Stand firm in righteousness. Others may accuse you of being intolerant of differences (when they sin). When they do, your life will reflect gentleness, grace, and love. You won’t condemn others but neither will you comply with unrighteousness, liberalism, and darkness. You’re devoted to Jesus, your Savior. He’s your passion.
