Scriptures on What Heaven Is Like
When I search for scriptures on what heaven is like, I feel like a kid in a candy shop. Jesus said he would prepare a place for his children. Therefore, without seeing heaven, I know it’s spectacular. Throughout this post, there are Bible verses about heaven.
John 14:1-4
Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”
The Bible more than hints that heaven is an extraordinary place to live. We’ll all be speechless when we cross over.
Scriptures on What Heaven Is Like: It Sparkles
How many gold-paved streets have you seen lately? God didn’t instruct angels to shovel gravel to make puny-looking pathways. He laid down a street of gold in the New Jerusalem to walk on. Who does that unless you’re God and you want your children to feel special?
And God didn’t stop there.
He continues to bedazzle his children by making the wall foundations out of sparkling jewels.
Revelation 21:18-21
The wall was made of jasper, and the city of pure gold, as pure as glass. The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald, the fifth onyx, the sixth ruby, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth turquoise, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst. The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of gold, as pure as transparent glass.
To add to heaven’s splendor, there are no dark areas to take away from its brilliance.
Revelation 21:23
The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp.
Bible Verses About Heaven After Death
Revelation 4:2-6
At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it. And the one who sat there had the appearance of jasper and ruby. A rainbow that shone like an emerald encircled the throne. Surrounding the throne were twenty-four other thrones, and seated on them were twenty-four elders. They were dressed in white and had crowns of gold on their heads. From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. In front of the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven spirits of God. Also in front of the throne there was what looked like a sea of glass, clear as crystal.
Scriptures on What Heaven Is Like: It’s Noisy
With roughly 2 billion Christians on earth in the 21st century, can you imagine how it sounds when everyone worships God? Here’s a verse that provides a glimpse.
Revelation 19:6-7
Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting: “Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory!
While that’s going on, there’s a lot of commotion happening at the throne. The mysterious Babylon city falls so there’s a huge celebration going on. That’s because God’s people will no longer be persecuted and deceived by a false religious system.
Revelation 19:1-7
After this I heard what sounded like the roar of a great multitude in heaven shouting: “Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, for true and just are his judgments. He has condemned the great prostitute who corrupted the earth by her adulteries. He has avenged on her the blood of his servants.” And again they shouted: “Hallelujah! The smoke from her goes up for ever and ever.” The twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God, who was seated on the throne.
In the meantime, four living creatures never stop praising God.
Revelation 4:7-8
Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under its wings. Day and night they never stop saying: “‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty,’ who was, and is, and is to come.
Scriptures on What Heaven Is Like: It’s Totally Peaceful
The evil one can’t torment Christians when they’re in heaven. The trials, tribulations, and other gut-wrenching events are in their past.
Revelation 7:16-17
Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat down on them, nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; ‘he will lead them to springs of living water.
Revelation 21:4
He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.
Right now with your two feet planted firmly on earth, living in a totally peaceful environment seems too good to be true. That’s how Satan deceives people. He creates a mindset in you against the truth. His end game is to deceive people so they dismiss the Gospel message as fantasy and miss heaven. However, the good news is what Jesus came to proclaim (Isaiah 61).
Everyday Life in Heaven
I look forward to meeting Jonathan Edwards, Smith Wigglesworth, Andrew Murray, or Hannah Whitall Smith and saying, “How are ya doing?” Can we talk about how your relationship with God contributed to your work on earth?”
Then, I’d find Billy Graham, Oral Roberts, David Wilkerson, and other great preachers to ask them about their ministries. They will reveal stories possibly never told on earth because God may have said “Tell no man.” More than likely they’re preaching about what Jesus did for mankind.
How do I know heaven will be a busy place? God doesn’t waste anything. He didn’t build spiritual skills inside you while on earth so you could lay around in heaven to grow fat and lazy. On the contrary, we’ll all have a job to do. If you excelled in music, organization, writing, crafts, etc., God will use what you learned on earth in heaven.
There’s one difference. You can complete your divine mission because you won’t have physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual hindrances. God will multiply your abilities one hundredfold and more.
Scriptures on What Heaven Is Like: Don’t miss it!
For the most part, people don’t seem too concerned about what heaven is supposed to be like. They’re living just as Jesus predicted.
Matthew 24:37-39
As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away.
Most importantly, people today aren’t any different. They’re still deceived and don’t believe hell or heaven exists.
Revelation 21:7-8
Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children. But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.
Summing up, it’s important that you decide where you intend to spend eternity. To put it another way, if Jesus is your Lord and Savior, you’ll go to heaven. If not, hell will be your home. Really, the decision is cut and dried.
