Prosper and Be in Health and Succeed
To prosper and be in health, I plan to bring on the fat! I’m not referring to unwanted fat that settles around the stomach, thighs, hips, and butt causing you to bust out of your skinny jeans.
I’m talking about soul fatness and a healthy body. More succinctly, to have a pleasingly plump spirit that resides in a healthy body that Jesus’ disciple John alluded to.
3 John 2 (AMP)
Beloved, I pray that in every way you may succeed and prosper and be in good health [physically], just as [I know] your soul prospers [spiritually].
With a fat soul and healthy body, you can fulfill God’s calling on your life by feeding on good food and God’s nutrients found in scripture.
But Christians have a tendency to back away from prosperity even when Jesus said He came to give abundant life (John 10:10). The New Living Transaction states it this way, “The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.”
In other words, Jesus is saying to be plentiful and bountiful—the same thing God told Adam and Eve when He told them to be fruitful and multiply. And God wasn’t simply referring to having children. He meant to be abundant in every way. Likewise, God transferred His thoughts to John to write 3 John 2 (above).
Prosper and Be In Health in Your Soul and Body
What does it mean to prosper and be in health?
A fit soul includes the mind, will, and emotions. On any given day, all three can go south. THAT’S TRUE IF—a believer routinely sidesteps three spiritual influencers, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This scripture perfectly describes their importance.
I Samuel 2:2 (AMP)
There is no rock like our God.
With them (the Trinity), a person is continually balanced and whole.
Do you know someone who prospers in the worst of circumstances? You see them rise up from a pit of ashes because they give huge amounts of time to what promotes health spiritually, physically, and financially.
They CHOOSE life over death and excel.
Deuteronomy 30:19-20 (MSG)
I call Heaven and Earth to witness against you today: I place before you Life and Death, Blessing and Curse. Choose life so that you and your children will live. And love God, your God, listening obediently to him, firmly embracing him. Oh yes, he is life itself, a long life settled on the soil that God, your God, promised to give your ancestors, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
Could it be that easy?
Prosper and Be In Health Scriptures
Scripture gets deep in our hearts to provide what we need to learn how to prosper and be in health.
Psalm 62:1
For God alone my soul waits in silence; from Him comes my salvation.
Psalm 42:11
Why are you in despair, O my soul? Why have you become restless and disquieted within me? Hope in God and wait expectantly for Him, for I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God.
Psalm 63:1
O God, You are my God; with deepest longing I will seek You; My soul [my life, my very self] thirsts for You, my flesh longs and sighs for You, In a dry and weary land where there is no water.
Psalm 103:1
Bless and affectionately praise the Lord, O my soul, And all that is [deep] within me, bless His holy name.
Proverbs 16:24
Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, Sweet and delightful to the soul and healing to the body.
Psalm 19:7
The law of the Lord is perfect (flawless), restoring and refreshing the soul; The statutes of the Lord are reliable and trustworthy, making wise the simple.
To Prosper and Be in Health Means This
- Wait on God: – Listen for His counsel before you go off and do your own thing.
- Put hope in God: He is the ONLY hope for a Christian.
- Seek God: God refreshes, restores, revives, reawakens, and renews as nothing else can.
- Praise God: Every time I praise God I’m relieved. My soul lifts up and out of despair.
- Speak what God would say: Invigorate the soul by hearing and saying the right words.
- Trust God for everything: God turns what seems hard into simple solutions. That only happens when a believer learns to hear Him.
As your soul prospers your body follows and flourishes. It’s a God fact we can’t ignore. A person with a plump soul and healthy body honors God. They are exceedingly fat in the spirit!
Prosper and Be In Health and Enjoy Life
The more time a Christian spends with God the more they learn how to stay in His presence. That’s the secret to prosper and be in health because whoever you spend the most time with has more influence. You can worship, sing, praise, pray and ask God questions and put yourself in a spiritual position to prosper.
God wants us whole (always) so we can minister to others.
II Corinthians 9:8 (AMP)
And God is able to make all grace [every favor and earthly blessing] come in abundance to you, so that you may always [under all circumstances, regardless of the need] have complete sufficiency in everything [being completely self-sufficient in Him], and have an abundance for every good work and act of charity.
Sufficiency means enough, excess, supply, and plenty. Christians are in the business of spreading the Gospel message. It’s nearly impossible to minister to others without the resources to do so. With a healthy soul and body, you have more than enough to meet another’s needs because you rely on God’s unlimited resources.
Prospering begins in your soul where your thoughts are or as Proverbs 23:7 indicates, “As a man thinks in his heart so is he.” If you aren’t prospering in life, take a close look at how you think. Then, ask God to teach you how to think like He does, and let Him renew your mind. That’s the beginning of wisdom and a new life full of abundance.
