Overcome Fear with Faith: Let God Help You Now
To overcome fear with faith, you must know how fear works and what to do about it. You aren’t alone. Many people including Christians battle fear.
Just so you know, there are approximately 365 “fear nots” in the Bible (one for every day in the year). God knew we’d be afraid!
To Overcome Fear with Faith, Take Authority Over Fear
You’re reading this to know how to overcome fear. First, you believe you have power over it. The next time you’re afraid remember this.
It’s impossible to be in fear and faith at the same time.
Here’s how fear works.
satan is a domestic terrorist—the worst. He and his faithful demons put ideas into people’s heads to carry out their evil plans.
Because the devil is wicked, he identifies which people have evil hearts or are spiritually weak.
To counteract this terrorist, Christians must be aware of their thoughts. By doing so, they can rethink what they allow into their souls.
Fear is satan’s chief weapon so people panic or become frightened.
For example, what do you think about the most? Do you concentrate on what’s happening in the world, anticipate harmful events, and conclude you have no control?
Be aware of what circles inside your head. Your goal is to overcome fear with faith because living with fear shouldn’t be normal for a believer.
Something you can do right now is to commit to God’s ways. Namely; read scripture, pray, work on your love walk, and renew your mind with His thoughts.
Process what you see differently by speaking the Word of God or praying out loud. I express my faith verbally to overcome fear although reading scripture and praying silently also helps.
Throughout your day, see yourself covered by a protective shield (the Holy Spirit) and believe that evil can’t harm you.
Jesus already delivered believers from fear when He died for our sins and sicknesses. Even so, the Holy Spirit may prompt you to change how you think, make lifestyle changes, or make new friends!
Overcome Fear with Faith By Saving This Prayer OUT LOUD
Lord, I trust you and believe that with Your help I’m victorious over fear. I bind the spirit of fear in the name of Jesus and break its power over me because Jesus is my Lord and Savior. I’m getting stronger and stronger every day so I have develop faith over fear. Angels protect me. There is nothing to fear. God, You are my strong tower, my refuge, my strength, my rock and salvation. I declare that fear will not move me because I focus on You and Your unchanging ways. When fear tries to enter my heart and overtake my mind, I’ll move toward You. I’ll cry Abba Father and You will deliver me speedily. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
Read and Speak This Scripture as Many Times as Necessary:
Psalm 46:1-3
God is our (my) refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we (I) will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling.
Now, let’s learn how to stay calm.
Overcome Fear with Faith Scriptures
A believer tends to forget that when they accept Jesus, God adopts them as a family member.
Romans 8:15-16
The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.
People accept fear the same way they do faith. They meditate on fear until it grows inside them and becomes bigger than faith. Likewise, fear flows out of a person as easily as faith does. That’s because what’s in your heart in abundance is what you have the most of.
Fear aligns with Satan’s kingdom. And oppositely, faith aligns with God’s kingdom.
The moment you build faith in your heart through the Word of God, fear leaves. You then have faith to overcome what’s fearful. Do you remember the times when fear led you instead of faith? Did you also realize that a different power drives each one and produces different results?
Ways to overcome fear with faith:
- No matter what, put the Word first and develop a deeper-working-believing-knowledge of truth.
- Connect quicker to God by praying away worry.
- Recognize fear when it comes. Immediately stop cowering under its pressure. The longer fear lives inside and controls you, the deeper its roots grow.
- Change any thoughts or actions that don’t line up with faith. Honor what Jesus did for you—He died to deliver you from the fear of bondage (Hebrews 2:15).
- Back away from fear and run to Jesus.
- Don’t put up with mental bombardments of fearful thoughts. Immediately listen to praise music, dance before the Lord, bind the spirit of fear, and celebrate. As a believer, you’re spiritually connected to God and free in Jesus.
If allowed, fear can dominate every area of your life. Fear is everywhere but you control whether you accept it into your heart.
Speak This Scripture Out Loud to Build Faith
Psalm 34:4-5
I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed.
Whenever Fear Comes, Say This Prayer
Father, I refuse to be anxious about anything and endeavor to pursue peace. I’ll have perfect peace when I keep my mind on You (Isaiah 26:3). Worry, stress, anxiety, and depression I bind you in the name of Jesus. You have no authority to live in my holy temple. You aren’t welcome here! I am free in Jesus because He saved me and I accepted Him as mine. I refuse to let my heart be troubled and afraid and I ask You to fill me to overflowing with Your love. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
Let’s discover more ways to overcome fear.
Overcome Fear with Faith by Guarding Your Heart
When fear leads, everything your kids, spouse, friends, and other family members say sounds wrong. Fear makes a mountain out of a mole hill.
That’s because fear causes stress and anxiety and keeps people’s minds on overload. A believer disconnects from his/her power source when they allow fear to dominate them.
Stop fear which presents itself as worry, stress, and anxiety by guarding your heart.
Philippians 4:6-7
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
This scripture tells you how to defeat fear—to live in Christ Jesus. By guarding your heart, you are balanced and peaceful.
To get relief from fear, you can’t back down because overcoming it seems too hard. Neither can you dismiss the importance of guarding your heart and pursuing a relationship with God.
According to the Bible, what happens in your life depends on what’s in your heart.
Proverbs 4:20-23
My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body. Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.
A person full of God’s Word has the spiritual ammunition to fight fear and its accompanying symptoms. If they don’t, the cares and anxieties of this natural world overtake them.
Over Fear with Faith with This Prayer
Fear will not live inside me because the Greater One lives there. God’s peace guards my heart through Jesus. I will not allow fear, anxiety, worry, and stress to control my life. My heart is no longer troubled and neither do I feel insecure. I cast out the spirit of fear from my mind, heart, and spirit. Thank you Lord for guiding my steps each minute, hour, and day when I ask for your help. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.
Overcome Fear with Faith By Identifying What Causes Stress
Fear has tentacles. The moment you take authority over fear, it comes in another way. Just know that the devil is devious but everything he says is a lie!
People say this frequently. “I’m so stressed and can’t relax.” Their words reveal how powerless they feel. What they say empowers fear so it appears bigger. Talking fearful and negative thoughts becomes the norm.
Faith can be just as normal..
For instance, loving parents want the best for their children which doesn’t involve bowing to fear. They wait for their child’s first tooth, acceptance at a college, or moving out to live on their own. It takes faith to believe for those events.
To overcome fear with faith, we can do what Jesus said. But it requires action on our part.
Mark 11:22-26 (NLT)
Then Jesus said to the disciples, “Have faith in God. I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart. I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours. But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too.
What Jesus said ministers grace and opens the door to relief from fear. If you continually entertain fearful thoughts, stress, anxiety, and fear dominate your soul. Conversely, you can speak faith words to stay calm and remain in perpetual rest. And above all, forgive others!
Of course, trouble is always nearby but you can choose to face it steady and unafraid.
Every day a believer stands at a crossroad and yields to peace instead of fear, anxiety, and stress. Apostle Paul gives good advice.
Philippians 4:6-7 (NLT)
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
Adhering to that simple advice helps you take authority over fear and become peaceful.
Say This Prayer When You Feel Fear and Stress
Father, I receive what Jesus said He gave me in John 14:27 – “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” I take His words as truth and my reality. I accept Your rest that only You can give. Stress, I resist you in the name of Jesus. Living a stressful life is not Your will for me. From this day forward, I will think about You and how wonderful You are. I ask for a greater revelation of grace so I can live in freedom. I pray in the name of Jesus, Amen.
Finally, Overcome Fear with Faith by Making Peace and Rest a Lifestyle
If allowed, fear wears you down.
It’s been proven that if you change a behavior for 21 days, it becomes a habit. That’s true as long as you keep doing the same thing to make the habit permanent.
You can overcome fear with faith by dealing with various situations differently. To build faith, you receive God’s Word into your heart, believe it, and then put it into practice. Since faith is the opposite of fear, building faith counteracts fear. Do that consistently and fear will be a thing of the past.
A friend recently figured out that her non-stop talking prevented God from saying anything. She used to chat away but she developed a habit to listen to Him.
When you take authority over fear by building faith, you also build peace (quiet confidence). Life may be upside down, but it’s possible to be peaceful.
Psalm 119:165 (TLB)
Those who love your laws have great peace of heart and mind and do not stumble.
Colossians 3:15
Let the peace of heart that comes from Christ be always present in your hearts and lives, for this is your responsibility and privilege as members of his body. And always be thankful.
To overcome fear with faith, you must take authority over it, live free from it, guard your heart, sidestep stress and change habits that contribute to fear.
Changing how you deal with fear takes times but you can live peacefully with God’s help.
