How to overcome pornography addiction is to stop watching it. God spoke those words to my heart and to deliver that message to Christians. Specifically, those acting like they aren’t saved and have no obligation to their Savior. I don’t apologize for what God downloaded into my heart. This post is for Christians and no one else.

The root cause of porn addiction is uncontrolled lust which leads to spiritual death and isolation from your Creator.
God hurts and the Holy Spirit grieves when you turn on to porn. What he designed for good (and it is good) – SEX – Satan destroys. Porn defiles the marriage bed. You don’t see Satan’s deception. That’s why you make excuses rather than find the spiritual reason for why you’re addicted to porn.
I sense the Holy Spirit’s anger at what Satan did in your heart. The enemy of your spirit turned something of splendor and wonder between a husband and wife into a dirty secret. Porn watchers romance their computers in the darkness when their spouses turn out the lights. Some even do so in broad daylight. They bond with images and leave human beings they love cradled in disbelief.
In the beginning
Isolated and alone, Adam yearned for something else—a person—a woman. While sleeping, God carefully crafted his helpmate, a person to love as Christ loves the church. A person he adored and no one else. When he woke up, he probably said, “Whoa, man”, this is my “woman.”
That’s how exciting she was to him. She was perfect for him. Then, sin came causing future men and women to take their eyes off of the one person God created for them. They flit about in their souls searching for the arousal of all time, the big one they’d never forget. Instead, they settled. They sought that which NEVER fulfills—body parts disconnected from a spirit, soul, and body.

Children of God, God knows you turned from Him to porn.
“You have committed adultery on the tops of the mountains, for you worship idols there, deserting me. Behind closed doors you set your idols up and worship someone other than me. This is adultery, for you are giving these idols your love, instead of loving me” (Isaiah 57:7-8)
He’s angry because you fell away from Him, your only source of satisfaction. In the process, you brought death to your household similar to how cancer’s tenacles grow to destroy everything in its path.
You no longer hear the Holy Spirit and care less because you aren’t interested in what He says. Your porn addiction brings sorrow to all those you love. Your dulled senses don’t phase you because your spiritual heart is just as lifeless.
Air-brushed men and women become objects to satisfy your lust. There’s so much dopamine swimming around in your brain from sexual stimulations that you look for the next fix. It’s true. God put that chemical inside you so you could enjoy intimacy with your spouse. It’s not a commodity you use to sell your soul.
The overload of dopamine backfires, though. It desensitizes your brain. Ask any Christian porn addict who’s honest about their addiction. They admit that they disconnect from life and in the process their sex drive decreases.
Death enters through the hallways of your own home stamping out the presence of your loved ones. Your all-consuming desire is to lust after the bodies God made in His image. Bodies become sexual commodities.

Christians who choose porn over their relationship with God and others grow to idolize porn images. Your loved ones no longer trust you.
They’re afraid to be intimate with you because you aren’t the same person. They see you erupt in anger often. Their broken hearts no longer concern you. Now, you lie and cheat to hide your secret or to explain away in your heart that it’s not a big deal.
The light of the Word can shine light onto this darkness. Satan convinces you that God made your body to enjoy. But He designed those built-in triggers for sexual gratification exclusively for a husband and wife.
You know you need healing and to move away from Satan’s deception. Your Bible lays limp and unused in a corner. You know that this addiction, and any other one for that matter, brought to your heart by Satan flows up and out of you unabated.
A Message from God about How to Overcome Pornography Addiction
If you position yourself behind closed doors in a faraway place thinking God does not see, you are deceived. God sees all those who turn on and tune in to porn via the internet and magazines.
He knows the Christians who commit adultery with their eyes in their own homes. He sees the destruction this brings especially to marriage.
The idol of pornography is the current beast of the land taking over the minds of men, women and children, yes children. Children imitate what adults do because they are examples to their young minds.
Watch and pray. Keep calling out the name of Jesus to rescue you from this sickness. Study the Word of God to drive out this disease called pornography. Expect God to send a strong and helpful Christian into your life when you repent and turn to Him for salvation from this compelling idol.
