To know how to get rid of the spirit of confusion, keep reading. Maybe you don’t give the spirit much thought or attention but you should. The reason being is giving into the spirit of confusion can lead to depression and discouragement.
For instance, you and everyone in your Christian circle prayed for someone’s healing. They died. Every one of you prayed in faith but nothing seemed to happen. What you didn’t know was the person asked God to take them home to heaven. He honored their prayer first.
But it’s discouraging when God reveals His will in the Bible and circumstances fail to line up. A lot of times the enemy of your soul blinds your mind and spirit the very minute you start worshipping. When you read the Bible, God’s words fail to penetrate your heart. Prayers never seem to go anywhere. God seems far off. You feel blind and unequipped to face life.
A Short Sermon on the Spirit of Confusion
When you feel uncertain about God’s purpose for you when once you didn’t or lack passion for spiritual things, it’s possible the enemy dropped the spirit of confusion into your heart.
Demons are experts at studying how humans behave. Once they see your faith level drop, they go to work influencing your thoughts. They inject lies into your thoughts and throw a monkey wrench into situations. Their goal is to distract, cause confusion, and keep you away from God.
They’re thrilled when you place more faith in uncertainty than the Holy Spirit. If that happens to you, the enemy used a spirit of confusion to slow you down.
As a reminder, God doesn’t cause confusion. I Corinthians 14:33 (NKJV)
For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.
Satan is behind confusion. John 8:43-44 (Jesus was speaking to the Pharisees)
Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word. You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.
How to Get Rid of the Spirit of Confusion
Find spirit of confusion verses to bind the spirit. Your first line of defense is to take authority over evil spirits and the devil. James 4:7 – “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” But as the scripture implies, first, submit to God. This scripture is also helpful.
I Peter 5:8-9 – Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.”
Concentrate on faith to identify falsehoods: As soon as you feel confused, identify thoughts that fail to line up with God’s Word and who He is. Then, grab your Bible and feed on scripture until you’re full of the Word. You’re building faith. Remember, your flesh tries to convince you that God’s Word is out of date and no longer works. That’s a lie. Your sinful flesh opposes the Word of God because it wants to do its own thing. Without fail, feed your spirit a steady diet of scripture and satan won’t trick you as easily.
Cast down imaginations. Don’t take every thought that comes floating by. Jesus is pure and lovely. Think about Him. 2 Corinthians 10:5 – “casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ”
Go after more light. Meditate, pray, and receive more of God. Micah 7:8 – “Do not rejoice over me, my enemy; when I fall, I will arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord will be a light to me.”
Binding the Spirit of Confusion Suggested Prayer
Use this prayer to remove confusion from your spirit:
Thank you Father that Jesus is my Lord and Savior. The spirit of confusion will not reside in me. I plead the blood of Jesus over me to protect against the devil’s plans to uproot faith. Jesus has already delivered me from confusion when he died for me. I refuse to bow to the spirit of confusion and will not allow confusing thoughts to capture me.
My mind is sound. I know how to identify lies and deceit quickly because I stay attuned to the Holy Spirit regularly. This spirit will not toss me to and fro because I’m certain of who I am in Christ. At every turn, I receive more of His light to push out darkness. By declaration, I am no longer blind and confused. Please search my heart and reveal if I allowed the spirit of confusion into my mind, body, and spirit. I am confident I will hear what you want me to do for You (Your purpose for me). The spirit of truth guides my steps and I only hear your voice. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
