How to Deepen Your Faith Now

how to deepen your faith

Do you want to know how to deepen your faith? Even unbelievers know that Christians are supposed to stand, not cower.  And the Spirit of God says “Now is the time to show out for Him.”

What’s causing us to slink back as though we’re afraid of who we are? How did we lose our passion for Christ? What prevents us from stepping up for the Lion of Judah and exalting Him?

For me and probably others, life’s sucker punches drain my soul. I crave the sweet by and by. Some days I don’t want to forgive, pray, and crucify my flesh.

What’s the solution?

A dead-on-arrival spirit requires a revived heart to abide in God. I hear the Holy Spirit say.

“It’s time to rise up and end this thing. Trust me and I’ll revive you. The end and beginning are near. Fulfillment of my Word approaches.”

How to Deepen Your Faith: Spring to Life

When old man winter refuses to succumb to spring’s arrival, petite and elegant crocuses dot the landscape with their vivid colors amidst a backdrop of icy snow. Oscar Wilde captured how the earth steadily hums a message to the world that it no long slumbers.

All the woods are alive with the murmur and sound of Spring,
And the rose-bud breaks into pink on the climbing briar,
And the crocus-bed is a quivering moon of fire
Girdled round with the belt of an amethyst ring.

That description leads me to wonder: How alive is your spirit these days? Has faith died?

Can you hardly contain your excitement with the prospect of meeting with Him? Does your heart ache to go to your secret place and feel your Lord’s sweet embrace?

Or do concerns and worries cover your spirit in a fog blinding you to God’s voice? All the while, He says, “Come and spend time with Me.” But you never hear Him speak. He wants your heart to beat to the same rhythm as His. When will His desires become yours?

He sees you as His Beloved and constantly woos you. He wants you to care about others. Instead, you’re scattered, busy going here and there. You refuse to stop and be intimate with Him.

Even so, God beckons love to reawaken, to love those He loves—the lost, broken, lonely, the downtrodden. He knows a seducing spirit lures you into the world’s lustful domain.

How to Deepen Your Faith: Revive Your Soul

He knows if you spring to life, you open the door to His kingdom and invite others to join you. You sense He wants you to consecrate yourself to Him. To devote everything you do to His purposes and break free from your slumber of darkness.

Go ahead and do what your spirit beckons. Find the path back to your First Love, the one who knew you before you were born. Join forces with other Body of Christ members seeking to know the one true God more intimately. Grow your roots deep. Occupy the ground God gives you. Let God’s love flow through you to others.

Rise up from the darkness and your deep sleep, spring forth into the light, know His heart, and yield to Him. Bask in God’s Spirit of revival.

He says,

“Come close. I want to make you whole and touch you, bind up your open wounds, be the hope you long for. No longer compromise your faith by living apathetically, rejecting an infusion of my Spirit meant to keep you on a solid foundation.”

How to Deepen Your Faith

  • Remember His promises: Follow the trail of tears separating you from God. They always lead you to where and when faith died in your heart. As you retrace your steps, train your spirit to hear, once again, the promises God made to you. Those promises you wait to come to pass are still true. Revisit your heart to find out why you let go of God’s words. What took their place? Whatever it was, must go.
  • Trust: When you let go of promises, you aren’t trusting God for what’s next. I understand why. Christians don’t like being on the receiving end of hate. According to Luke 6:22-23, we’re excluded, reviled, and spurned as evil just because we align our lives with Jesus. That scripture also says to rejoice and leap for joy! You’ll notice trust returns when you remember His specific promises to you as you pray and meditate on them daily.
  • Obedience: Let go of promises, stop trusting, and you won’t obey God. Your once-solid foundation becomes shaky and unsteady. You deepen your faith every time you take steps of obedience toward Him and His will for you.
  • Holy Spirit: Jesus is central to everything a Christian does or He should be. If He’s missing, then a believer hasn’t tuned in purposely to the Holy Spirit living inside them. Deepening faith in God includes reviving your spirit. You must be desperate for Christ, above anything else.  Then the Holy Spirit will resurrect and breathe through you. Philippians 3:8 – “Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ.”
  • Personal Revival: For the last 5 years or so, I’ve conducted a revival on my comfy red couch. God and I meet there frequently. He refreshes me often. It’s my go-to secret place for a fresh infilling of His Word and Spirit, words of wisdom and renewal.

Deepening Faith in God

In my life, God doesn’t swoop down forcefully into my spirit unless I invite Him. He’s a gentleman and waits until I’m ready for more of Him. That doesn’t mean the Holy Spirit doesn’t rise up inside me unexpectedly because He does.

To spring to life and get serious about your faith, you must see the need to change. When that happens, God will meet you where you are. Along with your cooperation, He starts removing obstacles that prevent revival.

You can stay where you are, dead in your spirit, or throw open the floodgates and let Him in. It’s your decision. Just know that this chaotic world needs us to stand and get serious about our faith because souls will spend eternity in hell or heaven.
