God Will Supply All Your Needs
Philippians 4:19, “God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus” overwhelms my senses with hope. Immediately I think, God’s up there, I’m down here. Right off the bat, I limit Him with my thoughts.
Unfortunately, I focus on the vast distance between God on His throne in heaven and me standing on earth. Then, heaven’s light shines truth onto my spirit. The Holy Spirit lives inside me. I’m connected to God and His riches supernaturally.
I gain those riches because I put faith in His son Jesus Christ. I’m an inheritor of God’s promises.
Still, with my finite mind, I don’t always grab hold of what this truth means. How do I have the tiniest and largest of needs met? How do I regularly receive His showers of blessing?
Here’s the first step: I put Satan out of business in my life.
God Will Supply All Your Needs Even When The Enemy Lies
Satan is a salesman always working to cheat you out of God’s best. He hooks you into his schemes by drawing attention to unmet needs: A few examples: love, creature comforts, money, and fame.
To have those needs met, He sells sin hoping you fall for immorality. Whichever way Satan leads is ALWAYS opposite to God’s ways. He looks and finds weak spots in your personality and targets those areas. As Satan leads you away from God (your true source of help), he sells you a bill of goods.
The solution? Every time you have a need, give that need to God FIRST. Otherwise, within time, Satan acts as a “needs middleman” to lead you down a road of destruction. He has no intention to supply needs because he can’t. God supplies your needs because He is the only One who can. How does God do that?
God Will Supply All Your Needs Because He Loves You
What if I told you that having your needs met is simple? Would you believe me? Unmet needs seem sandwiched on a revolving door that never unloads its bounty.
The second principle to secure needs is to believe that God’s children (believers in Jesus) are valuable to Him. Jesus said so.
Matthew 6:26
Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
Some days a wren wakes me up at about 5:30 a.m. On days when I’d rather sleep, I wish the bird would move to a different branch. If I’m sleepy, the bird seems disgustingly happy. The happy lilt to its tweeting suggests that all the bird’s needs are met. That bird reminds me that God meets my needs too.
The scripture above is so familiar that people miss its truth. What Jesus says is true even when physical evidence shouts that all my needs haven’t been met.
God Will Supply All Your Needs Scriptures
Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the thoughts I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
John 14:2-3 – In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”
Revelation 21:3-4 – Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
Don’t those scriptures shout that you’re one of God’s prized treasures? After you stop Satan in his tracks and believe (without a doubt) that you’re valuable to God, you can make these other changes.
How Does God Supply Your Needs When You Let Him?
- Increase believing: In Mark 11:24, it says to believe that you’ve received what you ask for. In other words, faith already sees the need met because you trust that God can provide. You believe that truth because what you ask for is according to God’s will. He wants you to have it. If He’s okay with it, you should be too.
- Embrace the truth: I John 5:3-4 – This is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome. For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world — our faith. Accepting God’s truth is only burdensome when you don’t believe it. Our love for God tackles worldly obstacles with a different mindset because we embrace Jesus (He is truth) and are satisfied with Him.
- Be a better steward: Any time you maximize the gifts God gave you, you’re a better steward. God designed for each of your gifts to work in unison to bless others. Blessing is reciprocal. What you have benefits others and vice versa. That way everyone lives full lives that abound with fruit.
- Understand His riches: Do you ever ask, “How rich is God?” He owns the universe and everything in it—stars, planets, precious gems, streets made of pure gold in heaven, etc. Psalm 24:1 – The earth is the LORD’S, and all it contains, The world, and those who dwell in it. God isn’t stingy with what He owns. Since He made everything out of nothing, don’t you think He’s capable of doing that again for you should the need arise?
REMEMBER TO . . .
- Identify your needs: According to Romans 11:33, the depths of the riches of God’s knowledge and wisdom can’t be measured. You may not even know what your need is but with God’s help, you are aware of what’s most important. God has solutions for micro and macro problems.
- Ask in faith: God operates on a global scale. Our little trials seem puny in comparison. Still, He cares about what seems trivial to us. God is a doting Father. Daniel knew that when he prayed, “O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; defer not, for thine own sake, O my God” (Daniel 9:19). Every time you ask in faith expect God to answer. Your faith is in the One you pray to. Here’s the opposite of faith: wondering how God can get His hands on $100.
My God Will Supply All Your Needs: Remember This
