Building the Kingdom of God in the Last Days

building the kingdom of god

When building the kingdom of God, people tap into God’s passion for souls. Kingdom builders aren’t ashamed to go all out for the King of kings and Lord of lords.

Most importantly, a kingdom builder knows time is short. It’s imperative to reach as many people for Christ as possible. Specifically, Jesus said He’s coming back. Here are the signs to look for.

2 Timothy 3:1-5

But know this, that in the last days are perilous times.  For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good,  traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!

Building the Kingdom of God: Matthew 24:9-14

Then they will deliver you to tribulation, kill you, and nations will hate you because of My name.  At that time many will fall away, betray and hate one another.  Many false prophets will arise and mislead many.  Because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved.  This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations. Then the end will come.

Since I became a Christian, I’ve noticed that more people seem to hate Christianity and people who profess their faith.  Equally eye-opening is seeing Christians’ hearts grow cold toward others and God as they fall away from faith. Lawlessness seems to be a way of life throughout the world. To confirm the Matthew scripture above, at no other time in history can someone preach the Gospel all over the world through technology.

The signs all around us shout loudly that time is running out. Unsaved people need kingdom builders to wake them up with the truth of the Gospel.

Building the Kingdom of God: Characteristics of a Kingdom Builder

  • Build day by day: When Jesus is on your mind – all the time, your central focus isn’t the same as people living for what the world offers. Your Christian faith drives your motives and your actions. Each day you try to further the kingdom of God. Other people see the King of kings in your conversations, in how you work, and in your lifestyle. You’re always advancing Jesus’ redemption plan testifying that you place hope in Him alone.
  • Exalt Christ: A Christian understands that Jesus didn’t take over their hearts. They decided to let Him abide there. Consequently, you’re part of a family of believers who worship Jesus individually and corporately. Praise comes from our hearts to our lips as we literally bow before Him in adoration.
  • Follow the architect: The blueprint of faith you follow is because you know God personally. He’s your spiritual authority rather than laws based on theology. What God says, you do. You’re compelled to reach out to hurting souls and offer wholeness to their lives.
  • Bring in souls: Do you remember how you felt before knowing Christ? I admit, it’s hard to recall who you once were compared to who you are now. After accepting Jesus, I approached life differently. I loved people more and grieved when they openly denied Jesus. Since that day, I’ve sought God for ways to reach out to people.
  • Cultivate a kingdom-builder mentality: Kingdom builders desire to reach people globally. They aren’t satisfied with placing limitations on God and His BIG vision for them. My current mission in life is “books for souls.” Potentially, I could reach people all over the world with the Christian message of salvation. Everyone can do small and bigger things as servants of God.
  • Deliver a message of hope: Many people including Christians are downcast and concerned about their futures. Knowing future events is on everyone’s mind. Christians who follow scripture know what’s coming next. We just don’t know when. When living the message of the Gospel, nothing trumps the events in Revelation. Ethnicities unite to enter a new heaven and a new earth. As Revelation 5:9 states, “Jesus redeemed us to God by His blood. Out of every tribe, tongue, people and nation.” No longer are God’s people scattered as they were at Babel. God attains his original goal in the Garden of Eden—to dwell with humanity for eternity.

Are You Building the Kingdom of God?

There’s a cosmic war going on for the souls of human beings. Satan is doing everything he can to prevent people from accepting Jesus as their Savior. Moreover, he pesters Christians and attempts to make their lives miserable.

Except, wise Christians don’t focus on Satan’s accusations that are void of power. They know Jesus will come to earth a second time to defeat injustice and misery. His righteous reign will last forever.

In the meantime, you and I must transform our communities as we obey God and align our lives with His will. Kingdom builders apply what they’ve learned when praying, reading the Bible, and the principles taught to them by the Holy Spirit.

Every time you love others, give sacrificially, and walk in the spirit and not the flesh you are building the kingdom of God.  Thankfully, you aren’t on your own to complete this task. You can surround yourself with other Christians who also love God and commit themselves to Him. Granted, living in this world isn’t easy, maybe downright hard. Still, the sooner we get on with building God’s kingdom the less we’ll notice a fallen world.

That said, kingdom builders should be wise like Nehemiah. He built with one hand and had a weapon in the other. Enemies never fail to come at us. Persecution is real and Jesus told us to expect it. Nevertheless, like Him, we can set our faces like flint for the Lord will help us (Isaiah 50:7).
